Tom Carter, CFA is the founder of Fountain Partners and managing general partner of its funds. Tom’s background includes buyside, sell side and operating experience. Tom worked in traditional bank lending at U.S. Trust and Brookline Bancorp in the early 1990s and provided venture leasing and asset based lending in the mid 1990s as Vice President of Boston Financial & Equity Corporation before becoming an institutional Equity Research Analyst at Piper Jaffray following e-commerce and the intersection of financial services and technology.  On the operating side, Tom was the Chief Financial Officer of StarMine through its growth phase and prior to its sale to Reuters. Tom has also been an advisor to, and equity investor in, startups and usually takes an interest in anything to do with innovation and entrepreneurship related to financial services, markets and analytics. Tom serves on the Continuing Education Committee of the CFA Institute of San Francisco, is devoted to his family and (still) to playing basketball.
